Chimes |
|
Here is an Excel spreadsheet (c.1.5MB) that contains a list of the Chimes of bells in Great Britain. Here is a Text File (c.155KB) for those without Excel, though it might not contain the most recent updates (as it is a right fiddle to produce it! ;-) ) Where chimes are shown as, for example, 10 + 2 this means that the tower contains 12 chiming bells, a diatonic 10 and 2 semitones. This data will inevitably contain some errors. Please let me know of any corrections/amendments I need to make. Thank you to several of you who have already sent me much valuable data! I have split the data into separate lists according to type of chime. I have also activated the autofilter option in order that you may carry out searches. Click on the arrowhead to the right of the column title(s) that you want to search and make your selection from the drop down list that appears. To get all records showing again select "All" from the dropdown menu you will get upon selecting any arrowhead that is blue. I have also added an "Extant" column and indicated where I have reason to believe that a chime no longer exists or ??? where there is some doubt. Filtering for blanks will isolate those chimes that I believe still exist in the tower as a chime. Mike Chester Files last updated 21 December 2007 Email your comments to me - thanks!
