This website is about church bellringing, in the English tradition. If you do not know much about this fascinating hobby this site might be just a little confusing! I suggest you click on this Link to go the website for the North American Guild. This will give you the basic information that you need in order to help you become better acquainted with the art of bellringing.

I was born in the "Barnes" area of Sunderland, a city in the North-East of England, on 27th May 1961. My family soon moved to the north of the River Wear and I was raised in "Roker" from the age of 3.  I was taught to ring by Doug Lowther on the third bell at the superb Gillett & Johnson ring, (10, 22-2-26 in E), in St Andrew's Church, Roker. My first lesson was on January 29th 1974 and I have been ringing very regularly ever since.

I look after the Roker Bellringers Website and it can be found here.

Following the completion of  my Batchelor of Education Degree in 1987  I moved to Coventry,  where I am a teacher at Coundon Court School; teaching Information & Communications Technology and Business Studies to pupils aged 11-18.

Those of us old enough to remember Singer Cars may be interested to know that the "Old House" which forms the focal point of the school was designed by, and built for, the founder of the company, George Singer.

Since moving to Coventry I have rung at All Saints Church, Allesley, a village right on the North-West edge of Coventry.  The church contains a 12cwt (c.600k.g.) ring of 8 bells. We are about to start a project to refurbish thing ring of bells and hope work will start soon.

I also look after their website and it can be found here.  Not surprisingly, I look after the Coventry Diocesan Guild of Church Bellringers website and it can be found here.

My major interests outside of school and bellringing are computers and music.  I play the bassoon and the baritone saxophone.  Having to lug these instruments around sometimes makes me wish I could play something smaller and lighter!  In my youth I also used to play the trumpet and (very badly) the piano.

What do I look like you might ask? Well..... if you did!

With great help from Chris Pickford and others I have produced a site called "Church Bells of Warwickshire"

It covers all those rings of bells that are, or were, in the county of Warwickshire. Have a look!
